Tools Box dummy “Jack” I already recognized by my first box dummy the importance to train single techniques and combinations with a target point and  thereby to improve the accuracy and distance. With the wish to cover further elements like punch resistance and block  techniques, I designed a wood dummy for the training of karate specific techniques. Jack as a nearly perfect training partner was  born and has been patented. The wood rods simulate attacks in the 3 body zones und enable the training of real blocking techniques.  Real punches and kicks can be trained by the stability of the massive wood column.  With real attack and counter techniques it is  possible to study combinations and to automate a  fight repertoire.  The head curvature enables to put on the fist at the training of jodan blows.  By the high weight one can improve the resistance musculature and the muscle timing for the whole body tension. Only by this  resistance one can learn to put in the whole body power in the attack. The column high promotes the leg stretching in the jodan  area und serves the simulation of an adversarial back  movement, to train a long distance counter attack. By the resistance one can train isometrical muscle tensions  and fast muscle contractions.  As at the sand bag the all sides hit surfaces practices the correct joint position of the hands  and feet and train the correct angles of incidence of all techniques. (i.e. straight mae geri)  The more real the opponent, the lesser the brain is stressed with the construction of  imaginary pictures. Contours and target points can processed in the subconscious and the full  capacity is available for the training of the essentially techniques. The stronger the  concentration, the more effective the training.  Without vibrations a particular training  concentration is possible.  Without vibrations fast punch sequences can be trained. Upholstery, wood stem and wood bars train punch and block hardship of all possible hit surfaces.  The hard upholstery forces the strong control of punches and kicks. Thereby a distance feeling is developed and  one improve the precision of stopped punches. By the shiftable wood arms block-counter-combinations can practices in different distances. One can specializes the  advantage of large range in karate and can also improve short techniques in the close distance.  The middle placement and the length of the wood rods  simulate a strong attack and train the avasive action from  the attack line. Left and right sidesteps can be practice  equally in comparison to other fight dummys.  If one concentrates on the wood rods with the guide hand or with the immovable upper body, you can improve the  accelerating and balance musculature of the kicks, without  body relief by pendular movement. Moreover pendular and  compensation movements must avoided, not to show the  attack his opponent. By the lessons with Jack I´m aware, how difficult it is, to hit a target karatelikely. The problem sphere of hitting (distance, accuracy,  stability and effect) is so complex, that a training of the entire technique must be gain in the centre. That concerns realistic block  techniques too. The hardly replacable advantage of this fight dummy is the automation of a real fight repertoire by thousandfold  repetitions. A little side effect is the enjoyment in training. One dosn´t like to hit in the air never again.    Wall bar makiwara  The idea, to assemble a makiwara board on the wall bars, is not from my ribs, but has been only  modified concerning assembly, stability und hit surface. The makiwara is originally a board,  wraped with straw, which is used in different types. The most common type is a upholstered,  ground embedded board made from fine wood. To resist the hard back flexibility, one will be  forced, to strain the musculature of the whole body centimeter accurately. The hard upholstery  forces to precision, because the minimal failure can injure the joint capsule and stops the training  for weeks. Equaly the hit surfaces will hardened. To strike the makiwara, one must perform the  karate technique correctly concerning movement, body strain, timing, balance and breathing. One  will learn the karate punch und will equaly get a feedback about the correct performance. Who  has a good feeling at punching, knows the techniques. Who dosn´t strike the makiwara, trains no  karate.  Hojo-Undo-Tools If one holds the guide hand on the wood arms consciously and don´t take it back  with the hikite movement, one trains the musculature for strong techniques without  cover loss.  Chikara Ishi  Ishi-Sashi  Makiagi  Nigiri-Gami  Tan Kongoken Tetsu-Geta
